Dom's Mt. Lassen 24hr Strike Mish
Some trips take months to plan. Others take a few texts and a weather window.
Last Friday, four of us drove north to Mt. Lassen. Alarms at 4am, headlamps on, moving by 5. Sunrise lit the mountain pink as the cold gave way to spring.
We hit the summit around 9 with perfect timing. Southeast chutes just starting to soften. A slow transition, a few snacks, then 4,000 feet of perfect corn. Smiles the whole way down.
By noon we were back at the cars. Leftover pizza, cold beer, music on. Boots off, sun overhead, mission accomplished.
Home by dinner. One mountain, one morning, good friends. Proof that sometimes the best adventures take less than 24 hours (dad mission).
Jeff's Arabia Hike + First Jar Drop
Kicked off what was supposed to be an epic trip through Arabia and Egypt in early March… but had to pull the plug early. Still got one ridiculous hike in through slot canyons in the Neom desert in northern Arabia. What a place.
Back in the U.S., I shifted gears and buttoned up plans for Edition 6 of the KETL Treasure Hunt and set the first jar. It’s sitting in a Pelican case, 3 feet underwater in a creek in Los Padres National Forest.
For Edition 6, there will be 10 jars hidden throughout the greater Los Angeles mountains, but this time there are no coordinates. Just POV video footage to dissect like a true treasure hunter. Dropping sometime in May, get ready 😎
Mike's Desert Shenanigans
A crew of us recently headed out to the Mojave Desert to do what dudes do. Riding, grilling, bocce ball, and a few questionable decisions. Saturday was a 60 mile rip to the ghost town of Randsburg. Smash burgers. Cold beers. Back on the bikes. Simple. Rowdy. A damn good weekend.
