Men's Hoodies & Technical Midlayers Built to Do More

Lightweight layers for travel, trail miles, everyday wear, and changing conditions.

A good hoodie should be comfortable enough to wear all day without becoming useless the second you start moving. A good midlayer should add warmth without making your layering system feel bulky or restrictive.

That’s the idea behind every hoodie and midlayer we make at KETL Mtn. Apparel.

These aren’t heavy cotton sweatshirts made to sit around in. They’re technical layers built with stretch, breathability, low-bulk fabrics, and practical details that make them easy to wear across a much wider range of conditions.

Some are light and soft enough for flights, cool mornings, and everyday wear. Others are built to add breathable warmth underneath a shell when temperatures drop. Either way, the goal is the same: comfortable layers that move well, pack easily, and earn a regular spot in your lineup.

Whether you’re traveling, hiking, running in cool weather, hanging around camp, or adding insulation beneath a jacket, these are the layers you reach for when a tee isn’t quite enough.

Technical Layers for Travel, Trail, and Everyday Wear

Every piece serves a slightly different purpose.

Meet our current lineup of men’s hoodies and midlayers:

MilesBound Travel Zip Up Hoodie - A lightweight, full-zip performance hoodie built around all-day comfort and versatility. The soft nylon-stretch fabric moves easily, packs down without much bulk, and works just as well on a long flight as it does for light trail miles or a cool morning around town.

Discreet underarm ventilation adds airflow when you start moving, while thumbholes and zippered hand pockets add useful function without making the hoodie look overly technical. The full-length zipper also makes it easy to regulate temperature or layer as conditions change.

MilesBound Travel Pullover Hoodie - The same soft, stretchy performance fabric and easygoing versatility as the MilesBound Zip, built into a simple pullover design.

It’s lightweight enough to travel with, comfortable enough to wear all day, and technical enough for light activity. Thumbholes help keep the sleeves in place, secure storage keeps essentials close, and the low-bulk fabric makes it an easy layer to throw in a pack or carry-on.

RLT Merino Thermal Grid Hoodie - Our warmer, more technical midlayer for colder conditions and bigger days outside.

A merino thermal-grid fabric balances warmth with breathability so it can insulate without trapping unnecessary heat when you’re working hard. High stretch keeps movement unrestricted, while reinforced ripstop elbows add durability in high-wear areas. Secure chest and hand pockets, thumbholes, and a layer-friendly design make the RLT equally at home underneath a shell or worn on its own when conditions allow.

It’s the piece to reach for when you need more warmth than a lightweight hoodie but still want breathability, mobility, and easy layering.

What Makes a Great Hoodie or Midlayer?

The best men’s hoodies and midlayers aren’t defined by warmth alone. They’re about finding the right balance between comfort, breathability, mobility, and insulation for what you’re actually doing.

For lighter conditions and travel, low bulk matters. A hoodie should pack easily, stretch naturally, and stay comfortable through everything from airport days to cool trail runs. Fabrics that dry faster and manage heat better than a traditional cotton sweatshirt make a technical hoodie much more useful when your day involves more than sitting still.

As temperatures drop, a midlayer takes on a different role. It needs to hold enough warmth to matter while still allowing excess heat and moisture to escape when effort increases. That becomes especially important when layering underneath a windproof or waterproof shell.

Mobility matters too. Stretch fabrics, thoughtful construction, and low-profile designs keep layers from feeling restrictive when you’re hiking, running, traveling, or reaching for the next hold.

And versatility might matter most of all.

The layers that get used the most are usually the ones that don’t require much thought. Comfortable enough for everyday wear, functional enough for the outdoors, and easy enough to layer when the weather changes.

That’s what we build our hoodies and midlayers around: useful warmth, unrestricted movement, and technical performance without making the gear feel overly technical.
