Escapades as of Late | May 2026

Jeff hits me with, “You want to go hide treasure jars this weekend?”

I don’t even know how to explain it without sounding insane. We hiked, Jeff, Trevor, David, and I, and I mean a lot. Like… a lot a lot. Bushwhacking, poison oak everywhere, and at some point, just straight-up walking down a river for hours. I’m talking the whole day, cooked by the end. Honestly harder than some MTB races I’ve done. I know where that jar is now, and I’m telling you, I wouldn’t even go try to find it again.

But… still stoked I said yes. That’s the stuff you remember.

Gear check, the Pika pants absolutely crushed it. First real test for what they’re meant for, and they delivered. Durable, comfortable, no complaints.

Anyway, just a reminder from me: say yes more. Say yes to the trip, the race, the random “Hey, want to do this dumb idea?” text. That might be when you have fun. Who’s to say!

When Jeff pokes his head into your office to ask if you want to join him on a hike, you better expect a monster outing. This last jar drop certainly delivered with a savage 24-miler last Saturday through some of the most desolate wilderness in Southern California.

It was something like 10% running, 20% fast hiking, 50% river wading, and 30% bushwhacking, and it really pushed the limit of what’s possible to reach in rugged backcountry terrain in one full day of sunlight.

After 13 and a half hours of nearly nonstop motion, a proper quantity of poison oak rashes appearing all over, and some battered legs, we made it to our pickup point deep into the night and returned home well into the next day. Ice-cold victory In-N-Out never tasted so good.
