Weightless protection for beaches, summits, and everywhere in between.

We created the Breakwind Ultralight Windbreaker to be one of the lightest and most packable layers in your kit. Specifically made for high output activities. It stows into its own chest pocket, disappearing in your pack until the wind picks up or the drizzle starts and you realize it was the smartest thing you brought.

Designed for backpackers, trail runners, climbers, and day hikers, this is a true do-it-all shell. The fitted hood, thumbhole loops, and three zippered pockets give you real on-trail functionality, while the laser perforated back panel and underarms keep the airflow moving when you do.

It offers protection from wind and light rain without ever weighing you down. Part of our premium Venture Far Series, the Breakwind pairs elevated materials and trims with ounce-counting performance so you will reach for it season after season.

An Ultralight Jacket That's Actually Breathable

I tried this jacket out by taking it out on a cool night run. Normally, wearing a jacket on any sort of run would have me sweating up a storm immediately. Not this one. I was actually shocked when I had already ran a mile and wasn't drenched in sweat. This jacket kept me as close to my ideal temp as possible and if you ever need to ditch it, it packs up in a very compact package.

Truly Ultralight & Warm

This has been my go-to jacket on windy days or early morning / late evening runs, rides, and walks. The jacket packs incredibly small (can easily fit into my running waist belt) and is lightweight and fits great. Also just a really nice looking jacket for meeting friends out on a crispy evening. Good amount of stretch as well.

This Is A Cool & Unique Jacket

I was annoyed with the Patagonia Houdini although it worked well. It didn't have pockets and was so crinkly and shiny that when I saw that KETL made a version of the same kind of super light windbreaker, I was happy to give it a try. And this is the best one I've tried yet in this niche category.

This is definitely not the windbreaker I was expecting!!!! In a very good way

This is definitely not the windbreaker I was expecting!!!! In a very good way. I have never seen a windbreaker or a jacket like this. As soon as I got it I wore it at the range during a sunny day and it wasn’t like a sweat box, it was very cool. I also wore it while running a few times and it kept me cool and warm and never felt like it was restricting me in anyway. I ordered another one for my daughter as she like wearing it as her track jacket. It’s not cheap but worth every cent.

I recently purchased the Ketl Mtn VF-Series Breakwind windbreaker

I recently purchased the Ketl Mtn VF-Series Breakwind windbreaker, the VF-Series Pika Alpine Pant, NoFry Sunshirt and a couple pairs of the Egg cradle Box Briefs. I also recently wore those items in combination with one another (or soley) and was impressed with performance and look.

I have been a huge fan of the Patagonia Houdini for years

I have been a huge fan of the Patagonia Houdini for years. The Breakwind takes all the qualities that make the Houdini great and improves with pockets, ventilation and way better mobility. Absolutely my favorite go to.

Great windbreaker so far, needs better thumb hole

It’s been great so far. Holds heat in well enough for cooler activities, but breathes well enough. I’m very happy with this as a light jacket for mtb, travel and around the house.

I don’t like the thumb hole design. I sometimes get multiple fingers or more through that strap.

That needs to be redone but I won’t take a star off for that .

Hey Eric,

Glad you're enjoying the jacket so far and appreciate the honest feedback! We're currently working on a better thumbhole design so the fingers don't get caught up in there :)

Perfect for crisp morning rides

Great jacket for crisp morning/evening rides or the break the wind as the name implies. Super lightweight and very comfortable. Sleeves are long enough and don't ride up when riding. Packs down supersmall, fits into a jersey pocket when it warms up. I was expecting to overheat and sweat but the jackets vents very well.

Super lightweight, super packable

Super lightweight, super packable as promised. The way it folds into its pocket is magic.

It looks super thin, and so far it held up well. Temperature control is great for SF Bay Area riding. And if it gets too hot it's easy to stash.

Beats all the other windbreakers out there

This is the best wind breaker / light layer ive had. Quality material, thoughtfulpockets and venting. The thumb loops on the wrist is something ive never thought of, but I use them almost everything im doing an ativity in it now. Perfect to throw in the backpack for a just in case, especially in the shoulder season.

Perfect light weight jacket

Perfect light weight jacket. Warm enough for crisp morning trail runs, but breathes well once you start sweating. Also great for casual wear, immediately my favorite daily jacket for variable spring weather. Packs down small, love the material, and well made. As advertised in all categories.

Super light love it. It was a replacement foreign ultralight windbreaker from another company that I had for years. This one is much much better and lighter. The large was a little bit tight sent it back for an XL

Excellent lightweight jacket

I got this primarily for backpacking to use as a layer over my Alpha hoodie. First, the quality is excellent. As is everything I've received from Ketl. So far I've only worn it mountain biking trails near my house and some late night walks. It was great on the bike in the mid to high 40's. Stopped the wind but still was able to breath through the pit and back holes. On my late night walks the temp was 38-42. When the breeze kicked up behind me I could feel it through the back holes. But that was expected as I was only wearing an alpha 90 hoodie underneath. So far it's a great jacket and I'm confident it will work perfectly for my purposes.
