We took our best-selling travel chino pants and did the obvious thing: made them into shorts. The Tomfoolery Travel Shorts keep everything that makes the pants so good, now in a hot-weather package built for adventure travel, daily wear, and all-around versatility.
From the soft, stretchy fabric and hidden zipper pockets to the TSA-friendly internal drawstring belt and comfortable stretchy waistband, every detail is there for a reason. These are the kind of shorts that make the most sense when you want to pack less and do more.

Pair Them With...
I love these shorts, every bit as durable and functional as Skid Mark. They’ve become my everyday short for every activity.
What perplexes me is their sizing. I have a 34.5in waist, which puts me squarely in the middle of Large. But as you can see from the pics, the large is at least two inches too big, and because the drawstring is internal, it looks silly if you try and tighten them down. I returned the Large and exchanged for the Medium, and the fit is PERFECT.
The odd piece is that their top sizing is spot on for me - length, chest, and sleeve - so the mismatch on the bottom is puzzling.
I have a 35"waist so I ordered the XL but it was too big. I followed the return instructions and reorder the Large which came very fast and the whole process was excellent. I have been wearing them for two months and I love these shorts. I am ordering the full length pants for travel.
Shorts are really well built, don’t wrinkle, true to size, love the drawstrings and waistband, fold well for travel.

Love these shorts, and really anything from Ketl Mtn! Perfect cut and length for a 5'9" guy who is always between sizes.
I started out with the Tomfoolery pants which I love , so I ordered another pair and then I ordered the tomfoolery shorts and they are also the best I’ve owned !! Don’t hesitate to add them to your collection!
This is my first shorts purchase. I have the many of the pants version of these. Very happy with the durability of these. Been working in the garage and getting them nice and dirty.

Great shorts, I really like the zipper pockets.
Two in the front and one in the back have zippers. It’s nice when you travel to be able to secure your wallet etc with a zipper.
Took them to Europe and now in the northern Great Plains and northern Rockies. I have 2 pairs of shorts and one pair of pants and love them all. Something you might consider adding is a pocket for an EDC folding knife that doesn’t have a zipper closure to accommodate a pocket clip. Maybe along the side seam between the front and back pockets. That would make these even better.

Needed some new shorts to replace worn out ones. Got one pair to test them out, and I’m back ordering more!
So I have been in love with O’Neil Traveller shorts for decades. The drawback is most are too long. 20” and 21”. So I went on a hunt for shorter above the knee travel shorts. Must haves were drawstring and zippered pockets. I did try some 686 shorts and while they are pretty awesome they are a slimmer fit and no zippered hand pockets. I then ordered 2 pairs of KETL’s chinos and virtue in 7”. These are the new favorites! I do like the virtue over the chino only as they are a lighter weight fabric. The chinos remind me of the fabric on under Armour golf shorts. They are still really nice shorts just heavier fabric. I have to order more they are so great! The “blue fog” color is a great colors as well!

Just stop KTL MTN…these shorts have zero right to be as awesome as they are. The material, fit and tech are 10/10. I haven’t stopped wearing them since they arrived and they still look fresh. I love the zipper pockets w/ the half mesh interior.
